How to Create a True Las Vegas Experience

How to Create a True Las Vegas Experience

It’s the City of Lights and never-ending nightlife. When traveling to Las Vegas, there are countless things to do and sites to see. We at Engine want to help you maximize your time in Las Vegas. So, to help, we’ve compiled a list of tried and true musts for your trip so you’ll feel like you’ve had a true Vegas experience.

What to Do & See

The obvious choice is to try your hand at gambling in the many casinos. But if gambling isn’t your style, check out these fun activities that won’t break the bank.

High Roller Observation Wheel Searching for the best view of the city? This attraction soars 550 feet above the Las Vegas Strip and offers a 360-degree vantage point. Debuted early last year, the High Roller is an engineering feat as the world’s tallest observation wheel, eclipsing both the London Eye and Singapore Flyer. Choose between riding in a standard cabin or one with a Happy Half Hour open bar.

Cirque du Soleil Cirque du Soleil, the heart-stopping acrobatic show that has taken the nation by storm, currently offers seven different shows in Las Vegas. Each is 90-minutes long and offers a gravity-defying performance for all ages and tastes. Check out Cirque du Soleil’s various deals on tickets.

Red Rock Canyon If the hustle and bustle of the Vegas Strip are too much for you, grab your camera and head out to Red Rock Canyon, a scenic spot just 20 minutes from The Strip. Whether you prefer seeing the canyon by foot, bike, or a scenic car ride, you’ll be left with breath-taking photos and an experience completely different from what you’ll find in the heart of the city.

Where to Dine & Drink

Much of the restaurant scene in Vegas is dominated by star chefs like Giada De Laurentiis, Bobby Flay, Gordon Ramsey, and Wolfgang Puck. If a smaller, intimate restaurant is more your style, Las Vegas has plenty of those, too. Just remember to make a reservation!

Raku Authentic Japanese grilled plates are the name of the game at this often-overlooked restaurant. Don’t come to Raku expecting sushi. All small plates are simple and under $10, allowing you to try a variety of flavors and textures. Make sure to try the matsutake mushrooms; even if you’re not a fan of mushrooms, these will blow your mind—or really, your taste buds.

The Peppermill If you are looking for the essential Las Vegas dining experience, The Peppermill has been said to be “as Vegas as it gets.” Does it look familiar? It’s been the backdrop for movies like Casino and Showgirls. Some favorite dishes are the omelets and the chicken fried steak.

Herbs & Rye For serious cocktails, look no further than Herbs & Rye. This Prohibition-era bar has received numerous accolades for being one of the finest bars in Las Vegas. Be ready to leave the glitz of The Strip behind via a 10-minute cab ride and instead indulge in an authentic slice of old-school Vegas swankiness.

Where to Relax

Traveling can be exhausting. Between back-to-back business meetings and taking in the city, you’re going to need to unwind at some point. Consider these options to escape the commotion and find some peace and quiet.

Fountains of Bellagio One of the most well-known Sin City spots, the Fountains of Bellagio is a sight that every visitor should take in at least once. After a long day, find a place in front of the Bellagio and let yourself be mesmerized by the synchronized waterworks set to lights and music.

Mandarin Oriental Tea Lounge This zen-like tea lounge at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel offers some of the most exquisite views of The Strip and one of the best afternoon tea selections. It’s open from just 2-5 p.m. daily, so a reservation is recommended. Don’t miss out on their famous green tea and scones.

Venetian Canyon Ranch SpaClub Any decent spa experience in Las Vegas is going to set you back a good amount, especially if it’s at one of the most popular hotels on The Strip. A personal favorite is the Canyon Ranch SpaClub at the Venetian. If you’re on a budget, check out online promotions on sites like Groupon before you go or see if you can earn a comped treatment.

Ready to see the sights in Las Vegas? Book your hotel through Engine and save up to 60% off public rates!
